Fiji Resources

General Resources

David Stanley's Fiji Islands Map is a good place to start your "do dilligence" on Fiji. He's got maps, guides, engravings and a great deal more. The prolific author also has a gallery of Fiji photos, and a South Pacific news blog and Finding Fiji a resource of Fiji travel information.

Dame Jane Resture, a businesswoman and Pacific scholar from Australia, has an Internet radio station and several excellent websites on Oceania. My favorite is her collection of vintage Fijian Postcards which is both fascinating and stunning.

For Fiji nature photography (both terrestrial and underwater) the best place on the web to go is Ryan Photographic, the official web site of Paddy Ryan.

Also not to be missed is Rod Ewins Just Pacific website with an ecclectic mix of photos, essays and information about Oceania.

Savusavu...the way Fiji used to be is dedicated to the charming port of Savusavu on Vanua Levu. Sponsored by the Savusavu Hot Springs Hotel, it's packed with useful information and is refreshingly non-commercial.

Words for the World is a non-profit, all volunteer organization which relies solely on donations and contributions of books, school and medical supplies, equipment, and clothing that it ships to Fiji. It was founded by Portland businessman Jerry Bounds in 1991 as a direct result of his travels to Fiji.

Margaret Travel Service is one of the best independently owned retail agencies in Fiji. Margaret is honest and will try to recemmend the best for her clients regardless of their budget. She knows the Nadi and Yasawa area particularly well. Definitely check her out at the Airport when you're in Nadi.

Pacific Island Report features some of the latest news from Fiji and the rest of the Pacific Basin.

The Official Site of the Fiji Visitors Bureau has probably the largest and most comprehensive site on Fiji on the Net. There is quite a bit of useful information. Check it out periodically, there's always something new.

The University of the South Pacific (aka USP) is a University based in Fiji that almost exclusively serves the inhabitants of the South Pacific. The site is rather slow going but there is some useful information here.

Club Kai India is a forum for and about overseas Fiji Indians. It's all about connecting and keeping the homefires burning. It's worth a look.
